Description
Casa di Neri Irrosso is a Tuscan delight! At the sight it is purplish ruby-red, intense and bright. On the nose there are notes of red cherry, blackberry, spices, and intense small red fruits. On the palate its excellent tannic structure, enveloping and highly drinkable, is in harmony with its beautiful softness. Irrosso is the result of the union between Sangiovese and small addition of their own grapes from different varieties: it gives the idea of a young red, significant but with easy drinkability and is linked to the characteristics of its native territory, with an unforgettable Casanova di Neri stamp. This Italian blend is 85% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Pairs very well with red meat dishes, such as roasts, steaks and braised meats and even game dishes, such as wild boar and rabbit.
The harvest began in the first ten days of September. Manual selection of the grapes first and – after destemming – by optic selector. Spontaneous fermentation without use of added yeasts and maceration is facilitated by frequent pressing. Everything takes place in conical steel vats at a controlled temperature per 13 days. It’s then aged in oak barrels for 15 months.
Our vineyards are the beating heart of the winery and our greatest wealth. Extraordinary grapes are sourced from them which are the basis of the production of our wines. Seven magnificent vineyards located within the appellation area: Fiesole, Cerretalto, Collalli, Podernuovo, Pietradonice, Giovanni Neri and Cetine. Their diversity of soil, exposition, microclimate and age of the vines create our concept of terroir as well as the identity of our wines and their outstanding personality. They show the unique potential of our Sangiovese and their extraordinary quality comes from the combination of a suitable territory, our work, our knowledge, our experience and our passion. Our grapes are the result of a selection of Sangiovese Grosso sourced from the Cerretalto vineyard. Then a long breeding process contributes to the creation of our clone. This clone planted in each of our vineyards releases a different result in the different sides of Montalcino. Each result has a specific personality but at the same time each of them are deeply related to the one which in the years became the Sangiovese of Casanova di Neri.
