Description
Modern wine with attractive dark cherry-red color with violet hues. The nose shows great intensity. Fruity aromas of cherries, blackberries and plums stand out against a background of fine toasty hints from ageing in top-quality oak. Warm, rounded and well-structured on the palate, with an explosion of fruit flavors underscored by light oaky notes. Pleasant, persistent aftertaste. Malbec is a great match with any type of hard cheese such as Manchego, or barbequed meat dish with cracked black pepper.
LLAMA as its namesake, this wine embodies the distinctive spirit of our vineyards, spanning the foothills of the Andes. This Malbec is harvested from vines over 100 years old, aged for six months on 3-year-old French Oak Barrels, and then placed in bottles to condition for a minimum of six additional months.
In all of Mendoza, Lujan De Cuyo, the Agrelo district is considered one of the most important growing sites throughout Argentina. Often referenced as “The Golden Mile”, the sandy fine-grained soils rest atop silt and clay deposits and are considered some of the best in the province. Situated 3,346 feet above sea level, the natural growing conditions are ideal for the production of premium wines. Warm days are offset by cool nights, plunging by as much as 45ºF. With very little rainfall throughout the growing season, the vines still benefit from the close proximity of the Andes fueling the Mendoza River. The number one varietal grown in Alto Agrelo is Malbec. The combination of each of these elements allows for an extraordinary variance that enhances richness of the wines aroma, deepens the color, and balances the body.
