Description
Cannonau is a blue zone wine found on the island of Sardinia in Italy. The “blue zones” are known for their large centenarian populations, populations living over 100. The “Vigna Sorella” Cannonau from Sardinia is a delicious ensemble of layers: vibrant red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and spices. With its vivid ruby red colour, its youth and freshness, Terra Sorella bestows the scents of Sardinia, with hints of Mediterranean maquis, myrtle and marasca cherry, complemented by a range of mineral notes. Lightly seasoned with cinnamon notes and hot spices to inebriate your senses.
On the palate it emanates a pleasant freshness and subtle and savory tannin. A refined aging process shows off the wine as both fresh and age-worthy. Designed to be an accessible Cannonau with artisanal craftsmanship, and remarkable for its versatility, Terra Sorella pairs well with both flavorful hors d’oeuvre and fine cuts of red meat, even better if seasoned with Mediterranean herbs. Also excellent with semi-aged cheeses.
After fermentation on the skins for a period ranging from 15 to 20 days, the batch matures predominantly in steel tanks for at least 10 months, while a small part is elevated in French oak tonneaux for a period of less than a year. A period of 2 to 3 months of ageing in bottle follows. Handcrafted in Sardinia at 7,000 bottles annually.
